Kerala Samajam of South Florida was established in 1984 as nonprofit Socio-Cultural organization incorporated under the appropriate federal and state laws. The primary objectives of the organization are as follows:

  • To promote cultural, educational and social activities and to encourage and revitalize the traditional arts and crafts of Kerala, a state in Southern India.
  • To provide a forum for the Keralites and their descendents residing in the United States of America to preserve and foster their moral, social, cultural, educational, literary and artistic heritage.
  • To raise, solicit and receive funds, charities and donations to carry out worthy humanitarian causes.

At present the organization has over 300 family memberships with numbers growing every year. Some of the social activities of the Samajam include Humanitarian aid to disaster victims, blood donations, conducting leadership and medical camps etc. We are one of the most vibrant and active Indian organizations in Florida, with an average 6 to 8 major functions every year. We also have an active youth council. Preserving and transferring of our rich culture has been one of our major goals.

Kerala Samajam has always encouraged its members to get involved in civic activities. Our officials and volunteers have worked hand in hand with the Indian Embassy/Consulates in this respect. Our officials have been involved and experienced in several spot consular activities in the past.

We are also working in close associations with other Indian organizations in Florida and FOMAA.
